Condolence: My most heartfelt condolences to Neta, Andrea and the rest of the family on the loss of Lloyd; grandfather, father,husband, friend and overall wonderful gentleman. He awed me with his humbleness, his gentle nature and his good humor. I honestly don't have the words to describe how lovely a gentleman Lloyd was. He taught me the meaning of the phrase "freeze the balls off a brass monkey", he loved himself a bit of salt fish or a 'figgy bun', he talked with me about NL history, faith, stories about his work and family, lessons he had learned in his 90 years. He was honest about his faults, but always had a positive outlook on life. I will miss going in for shifts with him and getting him the 'usual' for breakfast. I will miss his wisdom, his wit, and the kindness he exuded. He never failed to say "God bless you" to me before I left for the day, and was overflowing with gratitude for all life had given him. For Andrea, Neta and family: I hope you find comfort in your memories of him. Have faith in the knowledge of his love for you, and that he is now with the Lord, sheltered, pain free, and at peace.

I find myself coming back to this page more than I should, I miss u so much and my heart still aches for your family and friends but most of all for your laughter, smiles, stories and secret old grins between u and I, we may of come from a different time, although it’s only a number that separates our spirts , you and I were a lot alike, oh skipper how I adored you and your beautiful loving family, see there is jusy something’s people cannot put into words and that sit your admirable, respectable kind grace, you never spoke a bad word about anyone and always made sure u seen the good side to the bad side of everything we discussed, like I told u when I kissed u that last day in the hospital with tears, don’t ever go out of this world thinking you weren’t a fine upstanding gentleman to all those who knew you, yes I know your family is misses you more than any other and so is precious mother, but my heart is shatter losing my best friend and father figure that I had missed, you treated me with so much kindness and adoration as if I was your own, but it’s now I wish I could tell u one more time, how much I miss u, please continue to watch over us all, and be here when we need u the most, cause I think of u everyday, every little red car, any new sub division being built to every pecan danish I buy and all the ones we shared, you know I made fish cakes and lassie bread for u on Xmas eve, and today I opened the freezer and there was 4 more left over I had for another treat for you, but instead of throwing them out as I cried for who they were for I cooked them up and said “ skipper, by u didn’t tell a lie, these were darn good just like u said” skipper I cannot explain the grief the sadness o carry with me every day when I realize u are no longer here, I don’t know if u knew but I wanted to thank u for all the happiness u bought into my life for letting me meet ur wonderful son and daughter and their amazing family, and they will always be part of my life forever . I will cherish u all the days of my life for all the way u explained things with such patients and understanding with such grace, no one will ever replace “poor Lyold” .. oh skipper the only thing is ... where is i’se Gonna get me salt fish for Christmas Eve next year. Condolence: To the Yetman family, my deepest condolences on Lloyd’s passing. I had tried dropping by for a visit early in the new year and found no one home, now I know why. Sorry I found out too late to attend the service. Please let me know when the internment service is held 709-393-one33one. Farewell to the baby and last man standing of the original Gander Customs crowd. It is rare indeed for a bunch of co-workers to become such a tight knit social circle. Like many transplants to the new town of Gander my parents didn’t have much family there back in the day, so they made their own by choice. Lloyd was a great friend to my father, and always kind and patient with me. I never saw him in other than a pleasant mood. I can’t smell pipe tobacco without thinking of him. I know he’ll be missed by all that knew him. I’ll go now and pour a “swallie” to his memory, always remembering the jestful admonishment, “Don’t forget poor Lloyd!”
