Obituary for Sarah Phyllis Pritchett

Phyllis Pritchett, 69, of Gambo, Newfoundland, passed away on January 24, 2018, surrounded by her family and close friends. She is predeceased by her parents, Gorman and Bessie (Lane) Brown, brother Terry sister Reta, in-laws Norman and Martha (Muggeridge) Pritchett, niece Nancy, brother in-law Ralph Pritchett and sister-in-law Pam Brown.

Phyllis was a life-long resident who loved everything about living in Gambo. She loved life and lived each day to the fullest. She managed and later owned Pritchett’s Kwik-Way in Gambo. She was dedicated to running the family business for 30 years. Her customers were treated like and considered to be family. She was an active member of St. George’s Anglican Church. Her time was spent hosting and entertaining, music and song, knitting, snowmobiling, berry picking and spending time in the great outdoors at her cabin in Indian Bay. She was a very gentle and kind soul who thought of everyone and willingly gave of her time to help others. Phyllis was a bright ray of sunshine. She would always light up a room as soon as she entered with her beautiful smile and positive energy.

Her memories will always be remembered by her husband Roy of 46 years, daughter Sandy (Desmond), and son Eric (April), cherished grandchildren Brooklyn and Dylan. Sisters Shirley (Graham), Rowena (Woodrow), Sandra (Melvin), brothers Eric (Irene), and Norman. Sisters-in-law Hazel, Bernice, Nita (Peter), Linda (Nathan) as well as a large number of nieces and nephews and an extensive circle of friends.

Special thanks to Dr. Kamal and Gigi, doctors and specialists and all of the staff, who cared for her during her illness at James Paton Memorial Hospital and at The Cancer Centre. She always appreciated all of the home visits, cards, gifts and food that were brought to her over the course of her illness.

A memorial church service will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm at St. George’s Anglican Church in Gambo, NL. Flowers or donations may be made in memory of Phyllis to the charity of one’s choosing. Inurnment to follow at St. George’s Anglican Cemetery.

**A gathering of close friends and family will be held at the S.U.F. Hall, Gambo on Saturday, January 27th, 2018 at 7:00 P.M.
