Obituary for Leigh R. Miller

Leigh Roderick Miller, 72, of Gander passed away peacefully at home on May 18th, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He served as a member of the RCMP for 32 years. During his years of service he was posted at many detachments within the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, retiring in Gander in 1997.

Leigh is predeceased by his father Keith. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 46 years, Audrey (nee Lundrigan), his children Lisa and Kevin (Andrea), and his two grandchildren, Kalen and Violet, whom he dearly loved. He is also survived by his mother Jessie Miller of Moser River, Nova Scotia, and sisters Wendy (Rick) Breen, Jay (Clarence) Marshall, and Kerry Miller as well as many nieces and nephews and a large circle of family and friends.

The Miller family wishes to thank Dr. Tony Gabriel, as well as the palliative care team of Greg Banfield and Anita Lilly for their continued care and support over the course of his illness.

The family will be receiving friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander on Tuesday May 22, 2018 between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place from the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday May 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father William Hearn, with Interment to take place in Moser River, Nova Scotia at 2:30 on Saturday May 26, 2018 at the old cemetery. The family is accepting flowers at Stacey’s Funeral Home or donations to St. Joseph’s Parish in Gander, in his memory.
