Condolence: Dear Audrey, Lisa and Kevin:
I am truly saddened to learn of your loss. During our six years working together, Leigh constantly impressed me with his patience, wit, wisdom and, always, pride in his family. We first met one another in Sheet Harbour and, again, in Halifax as Constables. I came to treasure our subsequent years together in "B" Division.
In Gander I came to rely on Leigh as my 'problem solver'. His calm, careful and compassionate mediation between residents of Change Islands and provincial Transportation authorities (ferry schedules) has been shared with national police officials in Macedonia and Tajikistan. Audrey, your critical advice and support through Minister Kelly's office, was not forgotten. Leigh had a gift. He was able to stand with his neighbours and the community whether in coastal Labrador or central Newfoundland.
Thank you for allowing your husband and father to 'partner and guide' me.
