Condolence: I first met Derrick in the Spring of 1991 as we were classmates at the Transport Canada Training Institute in Cornwall. Within a matter of days he was driving me around the city or across the US border for cheap booze and a meal. Eventually he would just throw me his keys and away I would go. When we returned to Gander he would pick me up every morning before class and drop me off at the end of the day. Although it didn’t seem like a big deal to him it is something I’ll never forget. That’s who he was. My condolences to the Knee family during this difficult time. Rest In Peace Dick.

To say this was a shock is a total understatement. He’s been in my thoughts constantly. I worked with Derrick for almost all of my 28 years at Transport/Nav Canada. We had many good laughs pretty much every shift. Right from my first meeting Derrick, a fellow Buchaneer, he offered help in anyway he could, right from putting a floor in my old battered Corolla in 1992, to just last month doing plumbing in our kitchen. And, there have been many times in between, not to mention the countless times he’s helped move co-workers into their houses and apartments. He was always there to help. I could write so much more. I always enjoyed my career working with you Derrick. You will be so missed.
