Obituary for Josephine Mary Shea

Peacefully, with her loving family at her side, Josephine Mary Shea, aged 73. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Mary Harty of Gambo. Josephine leaves to mourn her husband of 53 years, Kip, her loving children Patty Ann Maloney (John), Peter (Cathy) and Keith (Becky), and her darling grandchildren, who she cherished, Allie, Joey, Nell and little Frankie. Josephine also leaves her devoted brother Michael Harty (Georgina), her sisters Jacqueline Saunders, Patsy Jamieson (Eldon), and Mary Fowler (Ralph), and many dear relatives and friends. Josephine was a graduate of Littledale College and Memorial University, and taught school for many years in Gambo and Gander. She loved her cabin at Gambo Pond, and spent many happy times there with family and friends. Josephine lived her life with kindness and faith. She was a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League, and a devoted volunteer at Lakeside Homes and the Ostomy Canada Society. Flowers gratefully accepted, or donations may be made in her memory to a charity of one’s choice. Resting at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander, with visitation on Monday, January 21st from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Tuesday, January 22nd from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial from Saint Joseph’s Church, Gander at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23rd, with internment to follow at a later date. A special thank you to Dr. Casey and Dr. Byrne, and the staff at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Lakeside Homes, Community Health as well as Josephine’s homecare workers, who provided her with such excellent care. Josephine was dearly loved and will be missed always. Godspeed.
