Obituary for Reginald Simms

Passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes, Gander, Monday, July 22, 2019, Mr. Reginald Simms, age 86 years.
Leaving to mourn his loving family: son, David Simms (Colette) at Stewiacke, N.S.,daughters, Nancy Loveless (Lloyd) at Seal Cove, Patsy Matthews (Peter) at Gander. Grandchildren: Janice Rideout (Neil), Jackie Coates (Todd), Jonathan Loveless (Tonya), Ryan Matthews (Julie), Susan Matthews. Great grandchildren Anna, Sarah, Cassie, Claire, Evan, Nathan, Audrey.
Predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth, grandson, Russell Simms, parents, Morgan and Minnie Simms, Brothers, Eric and Ephrian, and sister Evelyn. Plus a circle of family and friends.
Family will be accepting friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander on Tuesday, July 23rd from 7:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday, July 24th at 2:00 P.M. from St. Martin’s Anglican Cathedral. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Reginald’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Martin’s Anglican Cathedral.
Reginald Simms, formally of Richard’s Harbour, moved to Hermitage at the age of 18 years to work as a telegraph operator. He worked for 35 years as a Postmaster of Hermitage. After retiring, Reginald and his wife Elizabeth moved to Gander, where they made many new friendships.
Reginald was an active member of the community. He contributed his time volunteering with the School Board, Church, Senior's Club, and a number of other community organizations. Reginald greatly enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of his leisure time hunting and fishing.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks for the love and care shown to Reginald at the Lakeside Homes.
