Carrie was born on November 1, 1934 in Happy Adventure. She met the love of her life Alex Maxwell Smith after he caught her eye on his motorcycle. Together they settled in Gander and raised four children.

Carrie lived a life full of adventure and was a very active member of her community. She enjoyed camping with her family, playing cards, watching westerns and Young and the Restless, and, of course, scratching tickets and evenings out at bingo. She was a proud member of the United Church Women and TOPS Club. Carrie was an animal lover and in particular she loved her dog Chipper. Carrie and Alex Smith were happily married for 65 years. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and pet-owner.

“I don’t have to think about it
A world without you is not what I want
And still you must leave and I don’t like it
But I’ll never forget how much I was loved.”
