Obituary for Kathleen (Kay) Quinton

Kathleen (Kay)
January 3, 1940 – February 9, 2020

Passed away peacefully at the Lakeside Homes, Gander on Sunday February 9, 2020, Kathleen (Kay) Quinton, at the age of 80 years.

She Predeceased by her parents Edgar and Muriel Warren of Glovertown.

Kay was born and raised in Glovertown and moved to Gander in 1956 and started out as a nursing assistant at the old Gander Hospital. Kay and Max started a family and with four young children, Kay started a career in 1970 with Canadian National Telecommunications as a telephone operator and eventually moved into a supervisory role with predecessor companies Terra Nova Tel and NewTel and retired in 1995. In retirement, Kay was busy volunteering for over twenty years at Lakeside homes, participating in the Bell Aliant Pioneers Association and being Nana to six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Left to mourn with loving memories are her husband of 61 years, Max; daughter's Trudy Matheson (Mark) of Ottawa, Pam of Port Hardy B.C., son's: Bob and Sheldon (Diana) of St. John's; grandchildren: Scott Matheson, Laura Chilson, Drew, Meredith, Amelia and William Quinton; great grandchildren: Jack and Phoebe Matheson and relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place. Family will be accepting friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander on Tuesday, February 11th, 2020 from 2- 4 P.M. with interment will take place following the visitation at All Saints Cemetery, Gander and everyone is welcome to attend. A celebration of Mom's life will take place later in the year.
