Ewart Piercey
January 11th ,1947- April 9th,2020

Ewart Ainley Piercey passed away in the loving arms of this partner Ruby at the James Paton Memorial Hospital Gander on April 9, 2020 at the age of 73.

Ewart was cherished by his four daughters Rhonda (Glen), Kim (Scott), Kristy (Geoff), Kelly (James) and one son Paul (Jacqulyn), 11 grandchildren (Charles (Sara), James, Savannah, Joseph, Serena, Isaac, Miles, Darcy, Spencer, Rosa, Raquel, and 2 great-grandchildren (Rowan and Declan). Leaving to mourn is his sister Doreen and a large circle of family and friends.

Ewart was born on Jan 11, 1947 in Hopeall, where he lived with his family until moving to Benton as a young child. He finished high school and college in Gander and went on to have a long career with Terra Nova Tel (Aliant) as an electronic technician. Ewart met and married the love of his life Ruby (Pitcher) in 1966 and shared 53 years together. He was a loving and supportive husband and hands on father who had strong morals and dreams for his children. He loved the outdoors, his cabin, fishing, hunting and time with friends.
Ever reserved, Ewart was present and mindful of the feelings and needs of those he loved. His dry humour, intelligence and mastery were strengths that he used to better the lives of all. Memories of Ewart will be cherished by his family, he was the center of their world. It will be a challenge those of us left behind to live up to his humble and noble standard of love. He will live in our hearts forever.

Ewart’s death was preceded by his parents Hedley and Elsie Piercey, brother Hedley and sisters Lena and Cassie.

It is difficult for the family to imagine celebrating and remembering Ewart’s life without the presence of his extended family and friends. We want everyone to stay safe during the Covid-19 restrictions. For this reason, a memorial will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers a donation in his memory can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. 835 Topsail Rd Unit 107 ,Mount Pearl, A1N 3J6 or toll free 877-776-0608.
