Obituary for Sylvia Forsey

Sylvia Forsey
April 6, 1941 – May 19, 2020 of Glenwood NL

Sylvia died peacefully at James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander after a lengthy illness, with her loving husband of almost 55 years, Oscar, by her side. She is predeceased by her parents, Boyd and Isabel Trask, and sister Millie Leaman.

Sylvia is survived by her husband Oscar, children Sue Forsey (Roger) and Rick Forsey (Sonya), granddaughter Ella Forsey, brothers Austin Trask (Susan) and Randy Trask (Anne), sisters Myra Goodyear, Edie Maillet (Tom), and Norma Menchenton (Eric), sisters-in-law Audrey Boyd and Diana Sensabaugh, brother-in-law Jim Leaman, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends. Forever in their hearts.

Her family and dear friends take great comfort in the many wonderful years of memories they shared with Sylvia, who always made sure she took care of everyone’s needs before her own and that no one in her home ever went hungry! Sylvia and Oscar loved the outdoors. They spent many hours together at the cabin in Victoria Cove, and loved camping, fishing, picking blueberries and hunting for rabbits. They also played lots of 500s with family and good friends. Sylvia also enjoyed being in the garden and her regular walks and could often be seen out on the Glenwood-Appleton loop and overpass. Above else, Sylvia was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and the most amazing nanny to Ella. The family would like to offer thanks to everyone who provided support and kindness during her illness, with special thanks to care-givers Debbie and Hazel, Central Health Community Support staff, and the doctors, nurses, and support staff at James Paton Memorial Hospital.

Cremation has taken place, and in light of the current covid situation a funeral service will be held at a future date at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Glenwood. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to St. Andrew’s Church or to a charity of one’s choice.
