Gaétan Joseph Napoléon Albert Plourde November 16, 1942 - July 15, 2020 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gaétan Plourde announce his passing at the James Paton Memorial Health Care Centre in Gander on Wednesday July 15, 2020 at the age of 77 years. He was predeceased by his parents Albert & Alphena Plourde.

Gaétan was born in Hibbard, Quebec and being the adventurous person, he made his way west to Winnipeg. Over the course of his life he went where the work would take him and learned many different roles, such as Logger, a Steamer for CP Rail, a Camp Cook, a Crusher Operator at several mines across Canada and finally moved with his family to become a Heavy Equipment Operator in Fort McMurray working for Great Canadian Oil Sands (GCOS), now Suncor Energy starting in the early 70’s. On his days off from shift work, with one lawnmower and a contract with Athabasca Realty Company (ARC) he started his very successful landscaping business “Frenchy’s Snowblowing Services & Property Maintenance“.

After retirement from Suncor Energy, Gaétan loved his part time job delivering pizza’s for Pizza Hut, when he met Madge in 2001.

So sad to hear of Gaetan's passing. We only meet a few time in Fort McMurray and again when we visiting Aunt Madge and Gaetan in Benton. I remember every time we meet he alway seemed to have a smile on his face and he was very excited to show me all around his garden. Will remember him with a smile. Condolences to Aunt Madge, his family and friends. Michelle & Gord Burke
