It is with great sadness that the family of the late Shirley Hoffe announce her passing at the James Paton Memorial Health Care Centre on Wednesday September 2, 2020 at the age of 72 years. She was predeceased by her father George Young; mother Kathleen Young and her sister Anita Young. She leave to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Wilson Hoffe; sons: Allan (Christina) of Gander, NL., Keith (Barbara) of London, ON.; daughters: Caprice (Adam Gautreau) of London, ON., Chantal (Michael Reardon) of Gander, NL; grandchildren: Ashley Gillingham, Marc-Andre Cloutier, Karrah Cloutier, Alex Hoffe, Brooke Burry, Lillian Hoffe-Reardon, Abigail Gautreau; great grandson Greyson Gillingham; sisters: Lorraine (Jim Crawford) of Orleans, ON., Shelia (Jim Harrison) of Greenwood, NS. She also leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her brother-in-law Calvin Hoffe (Edna) and her sister-in-law Daphne Waterman (Carl) as well as nieces, nephews, a large circle of extended family and friends. Shirley was born in St. John’s on January 22, 1948 and moved to Gander at the age of 6 from where she met and married Wilson Hoffe on September 1, 1966 and spent 54 years together. She was an active member of Branch 8 of the Royal Canadian Legion, as well a member of the Masonic & Shriners Ladies Association and past president of the Gander Kinnett Club. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes cremation will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mazol Shriners or a charity of one’s choice. We are sending our deepest condolences to the Hoffe family. Shirley will be long remembered as a person who had so much love for her family and was committed to making the Town of Gander a better place to live. We are sad that we can’t be with you during this difficult time but know you are in our thoughts. We hope you will celebrate the time you had together and we also hope your memories will help you celebrate the life of this amazing woman.
