Obituary for Albert Dawson Oake

It is with great sadness that the family of Albert Dawson Oake announce his passing at his residence on Sunday, September 6th, 2020 at the age of 82. Dawson was predeceased by his parents Sidney and Elsie (Nee Perry) and sister Daphne Blandford.
He leaves to mourn his loving wife Sue, son Dale (Tara Hollett) of Gander and daughter Cindy (Jim Young) of Riverview, NB, grandchildren Christopher and Courtney Oake of Edmonton, AB, great-grandchildren, nephews, and a large circle of close cousins and friends.

Dawson was born and grew up in Fogo. He graduated with his Radio Operators Course from the Department of Transport Air Services School in Ottawa, ON in 1961. Following graduation Dawson worked in Fort Chimo (now Kuujjuaq) and Quebec City. After marrying his sweetheart Sue Coffin in 1964, Dawson completed a remote work assignment on Belle Isle and in 1966 he was permanently stationed in Yarmouth, NS where they enjoyed 11 memorable years. In 1977 Dawson and family moved to Gander, where he worked at Gander Aeradio as a Flight Service Specialist until his retirement from Transport Canada in 1993. Dawson was an avid baseball enthusiast who rarely missed a Blue Jays game on TV.

In keeping with Dawson’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will follow with family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The War Amps or a charity of one’s choice.
