To Val’s family, I am so very sad to hear of Val’s passing. I just heard today. Val was one of the kindest, gentlest people I’ve ever had the honour to know. I taught Val when she was in Adult Basic Education in Eastport in the early 90’s. I think I learned more from her than she did from me. She was so proud of her boys and such a dedicated student. She loved her family dearly and admired her parents so much. We kept in touch over the years, but haven’t been in touch during the past few years. Her passing is such a loss. I will always remember her kindness towards me and her strength and determination. God Bless you, Val. I’ll never forget you. I’ve included a picture of Val when I was teaching in Eastport. She’s on the end on the right. I’m in the front in the knit sweater. Her brother’s Gary and Doug are there too and her sister, Liz.

Please accept my condolences on the passing of your loving mom, sister, and friend Valerie. It was a shock for me, but thank you Daniel for letting me know of your mom's passing. I know she was hurting yet showed determination, strength, and such bravery in her battle. She is no longer hurting and now in the loving arms of her parents. I met her virtually as Catherine in August of 2019 and we shared many communications since then. Although due to the distance between us, we never actually met in person. But we cared for each other and I have shed many tears at her passing. I want you to know that she expressed to me that she really enjoyed her family visit at her sister's during this last Christmas time. Please take comfort in the fond memories of the bonding time that you had.

I am so sad to know that Valerie has left us but so content that she is in the arms of her mom and dad sitting close to the Lord that she loved and still loves. She fought a valiant battle with the disease and pain that cancer brings. Now she is free. When you need strength remember how she fought. The battle is not ours. The hard part is in the grieving for her because you loved her. Sending love and prayers as you continue to live with the memories of the wonderful mom and sister she is/was

I’m so sorry for your lost, I came on this website to read another obit and was shock to see that Val had passed. Valerie lived in our basement apartment when she went to trades school in Gander. We had many fun times together especially the day she decided if she could fit thru the basement window, she could not. RIP Norma King
