Obituary for Pastor Ralph Benson

BENSON
Ralph
June 10, 1955 – May 9, 2021

On May 9th 2021 the Benson family, the Evangel community, and the town of Gander were rocked by the tragic loss of Pastor Ralph Benson. He was a pillar of the community, cornerstone of the church, and a role model Dad and Poppy. He adored his wife Paulette (Bonita) and was an exemplary husband. His love for his children Melissa (Craig), Adam (Natasha), Melanie (Jonathan) was only surpassed by his loving enthusiasm for his grandchildren Nick, Julia, Daniel, Gracie, Avery, Luke, and Jesse. When Poppy checked in on the grandkids with either a phone call or a visit it was enough to fill their little buckets to overflowing. He had an infectious energy and just a few moments in his presence could change the course of your day.

Ralph was born and raised in the small community of Come by Chance. As a young man laden with addictions he turned his life to Jesus and never looked back! Since then his love for Jesus has impacted thousands and he has left a legacy of love and grace for us to follow. He had a huge heart for people and it was unmistakable for anyone who had the privilege to meet him.

Ralph Benson was predeceased by his parents Daniel & Mamie and oldest brother George. Left to mourn along with his wife, children and grandchildren are sister in-law Tilly, Brother Frank (Dinah), Gordon (Corinna), Rex (Sandra), and his loving sister Judy (John), leaving also a large number of Paulette’s brothers and sisters, in-laws, nieces and nephews and his church family.

Ralph’s heart for people and the impact he had is now being felt through all of the support pouring in to us as a family; from people all over the province and beyond.

In the words he spoke so often, “Life is precious; Jesus Christ is our living hope”.
You entered Heavens gates with a gleaming smile and until we meet again, Dad, we’ll have an extra piece of dessert just for you❤️
