Obituary for Lorna Edna Budgell

Lorna Budgell
November 15, 1968 – September 7, 2021

It is with tremendous sadness that we share the passing of Lorna Edna Budgell (nee Jackson) at the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, aged 52 years.

Leaving to mourn and celebrate her life are her loving husband of 33 years Todd; her sons who were her pride and joy, Matthew (Katherine) and Jonathan (Katie), her sweet grandsons who always put a twinkle in her eyes, Owen, Jacob, and Luke; her devoted parents Alma and Albert Jackson, best friend and sister Lisa (Ed) George and niece Ashley; as well as a large, loving, extended family and many life-long friends.

Lorna is predeceased by grandparents Harrison and Blanche Hillier, and Amos and Ethel Jackson, nephew Lucas George, and sister-in-law Roxanne Rothe.

The most important thing in Lorna’s short but full life was family. Growing up in Cavendish, she learned the importance of community and being there for others. When she met Todd and they began their family with “her boys”, this sense of community continued as they built their life together in Appleton. Lorna’s circle of friends is endless, and she touched the lives of so many people whether she was cheering at a ball game, volunteering, meeting celebrities at the airport as a Border Services Agent, or striking up a conversation with a stranger at Walmart or on the street in Times Square. Lorna has left us with a legacy of kindness and joy. Her courage and strength will continue to inspire us, and her passion for life and laughter will live on through us forever. Each day we will find a reason to make it “a good day”.

As per Lorna’s wishes cremation has taken place.

Visitation will be held at Stacey’s Funeral Home in Gander on Friday, September 10 from 1:00-4:00 pm, as well as Warren’s Funeral Home in Dildo on Sunday, September 12 from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm.

A service to celebrate Lorna’s life will take place on Monday, September 13. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the service will be by invitation only.

As an expression of sympathy, donations in Lorna’s memory will be accepted to purchase resources in order to provide comfort to other patients and their families as they navigate through illness.

Arrangements entrusted to Warren’s Funeral Home, Dildo and Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander.
