Patrick Joseph Hinchey passed peacefully away at James Paton Memorial Hospital on December 5, 2021, in the presence of his loving family. Patrick will be dearly missed by his mother Margaret, brother John (Krista Stack), sisters Carol (David Harnum), Anne (Rex Woodford), and Mary Hinchey, who he often said was his ´rock.’ Patrick was predeceased by his father Morgan Hinchey in 2019. He was also predeceased by dearest friends Marita Adams and Anne Meredith Barry. Patrick sadly leaves behind his most cherished nieces and nephews, Andy Woodford (Valerie), Dr. Rebecca Woodford (Jordan Dyke), Aaron Woodford, and Kiley and Lauren Hinchey. Also, his great niece Abigaile Murphy Woodford and great nephews George and Roman Dyke. Patrick also leaves to mourn a large circle of relatives and friends.

Patrick was born in Gander, NL, on the 21st of November, 1963. He attended St. Joseph’s Academy and St. Paul´s High. After receiving a B.A. and B. He obtained an associate degree from York University and taught educators at both York University and the University of Toronto. His main focus was with the Enrichment Program, where he taught gifted children and authored a handbook for teaching the gifted.

Patrick also coached the Debate Team and was so proud when his team excelled provincially. His students also entered international competitions. He mentored many students in Advanced Placement Courses and was very proud to hear of their successes in life.

One of Patrick’s greatest passions in life was his interest in Art, having worked in Art Galleries in both St. John’s and Toronto, and he was proud of his eclectic collection.

Patrick was very kind to his family and friends. He was well known for his sense of humour and was a gifted orator. He was often asked to be Master of Ceremonies for many family and friends' weddings where his humour was so enjoyed.

In his last few years, he was very fond of his mother’s homecare workers, especially Brenda Pearce, who has worked with his Mom the longest.
