Obituary for Jane Wheaton

Minnie “Jane” Wheaton
November 18, 1953 - March 28, 2022

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the peaceful passing of Jane Wheaton at her home in Frederickton surrounded by her family and friends. Jane battled von Hippel-Lindau gracefully her whole life, never giving up and living each day to its fullest.

Jane married the love of her life Abner Wheaton on August 14,1970, going on to have four children Pamela, Samuel, Cory and Allan. Jane opened her heart and home in 1978 to provide unconditional love and care to children. Through the years she fostered and adored many children, as a result in 1988 she came to have another daughter and son, Tina and Levi.

One of Jane’s greatest pleasures was to serve the Lord. For 50 years she was faithful to her church, she loved teaching Sunday school and youth groups, she served on the church board, was a member of Woman Missionary being faithful to her church brought her great joy. She said she received a miracle, and her years of prayers were answered when Abner gave his heart to the Lord on April 15, 2018. Over the past four years they attended church together. Abner was Jane’s caregiver his whole life providing care for her when she could no longer provide for herself.

Jane’s quality of life was enhanced due to the dedication and commitment of three special woman, Joyce Wheaton, Kathleen Gillingham, and Lorraine Faulkner. In recent years Kathleen and Lorraine grew to become members of Jane and Abner’s family. Through many challenges they always stood by Abner and Jane's side becoming their shining light.

Jane never shied away from hard work, she worked with Beothic Fish Processors in Musgrave Harbour and New-Wes-Valley up until her illness no longer allowed her to. Like everything else Jane did she embraced it and found joy. She looked forward to being with her friends and co-workers always having fun or playing a joke on someone. As the old saying goes, “life’s better when you’re laughing, and no one knew that better than a good-humored individual like Jane. She knew how to laugh and how to make others laugh by her harmless pranks and appreciation of a good joke.

One of Jane's favorite hobbies was baking, she loved to try new recipes, make cakes, pies and cookies. Anyone who ever came to her house knew there would always be sweets and something delicious to enjoy during their visit.

She was predeceased by her father and mother Jeremiah & Alice Price; her Foster parents Herbert and Alice Squires; father-in-law Jordan Wheaton; sister Annie (Hector) Rockwood; brothers: Winston Price, Herb Price, Jim Price and Foster brother Kevin Squires.
