Barbara Marie White
June 14th, 1926 – March 30th, 2022
Passed away peacefully at Golden Years Estates, Gander, age 95 with her loving husband by her side.
Predeceased by her parents Beatrice and John Cyrus Mayo.
Left to mourn with loving memories are her husband Sam of Gander, sons Jerome (Doreen), John (Sharon), Jim (Peggy), Sam (Cosetta) all of Gander, daughters Jeanmarie (Gerald) of Gander and Susan (Gordon) of Marystown, grandchildren Fraser, Noralie, Allison (Chris), John (Paulette), Brian (Lauren), Brianne, Andrea, Andrew (Robyn), Randy (Alicia), Jason (Kelly), Jordan (Brittany), Ben (Stephanie), step grandchildren Jonathan (Lianne), Melissa (Mike), great – grandchildren Mason, Jadyn, Jersi, Carrie – Ann, Adelyn, Owen, Luke, Max, Sam, Adam, Paige, Nathan, Dominic, Hannah, Zoey, step – grandchildren Calla, Jacob, Jack.
Barbara was born in Burin and moved to St. John’s at the age of 18 to complete her registered nurse studies. There, she met the love of her life, Sam, who was a patient from “ on the Gander “. They married in 1949 and made Gander their home where they raised their family.
Barbara was a very practical, down – to – earth woman but at the same time, very creative and artistic. The subjects of her poems ranged from the love of her family, her faith, the weather, pets and everything in between.
Any hard times she faced were met with determination and quiet strength. Always more interested in knowing about how her family was doing, Barbara remained focused on others. Even through the past two years of COVID lockdowns and visiting restrictions, she stayed in touch through Facebook, Facetiming and texting.
Barbara’s beauty, strength, intelligence, kindness, humor and gentle ways will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Family will be accepting friends at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on Monday, April 4th from 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 5th at 2:00 P.M. from St. Martin's Anglican Cathedral. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to the Gander SPCA, St. Martin’s Anglican Cathedral building fund or a charity of one’s choice.
