Obituary for Margaret Anne Quinton

Margaret Anne Quinton
June 30, 1939 – June 20, 2022

Margaret Anne Quinton, age 82, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Monday June 20, 2022 at James Paton Memorial Hospital, Gander, NL.

Born in Sarnia Ontario, she was the second youngest child of seven siblings born to parents Frank and Elizabeth Maczko, and was the first of two children born in Canada after the family immigrated here from Hungary.

Not long after graduating high school she met and married George Nisbet with whom she had a son and daughter and lived a fairly adventurous life, among other things, adventures that included scuba diving, boats, snowmobiles and horses.

Years after their divorce, while living in Alberta, Margaret met and subsequently married Ernest Quinton. It was in their early years of marriage when both her and Ernie together entered into a loving grace-filled relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. And it was that security in the Lord which gave her comfort and strength when Ernie, husband of 23 years, passed away. She knew his passing wasn’t an end but rather his beginning in the glory of heaven in which she would one day meet him again.

It was shortly after being widow from Ernie that Margaret moved to Newfoundland to live with her daughter and son-in-law in Trinity of Bonavista Bay. She enjoyed six years with Joyce and Edward, making new friends in the community and being involved in the Women’s Institute and the 50+ Seniors Club. In July of 2022 she moved into Orams Emmanuel Manor where she was very well cared for and met more friends and was happily involved with life in her new home.

Margaret is survived by daughter Joyce (Edward) Rogers; grandson Rick (Melanie) Nisbet and family; grandson Dion (Carri) Rogers and family; brother Frank (Dianne) Maczko; a large number of family from the Maczko side of her family, as well sons, daughters, grandchildren and their families from Ernie’s side of the family (although too numerous to name, no less important in her life).

As per Margaret’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Since family is across Canada, there will be no formal service taking place. Rather, each will celebrate her life in their own special way.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Janeway Children’s Hospital Foundation 300 Prince Phillip Drive St. John’s, Newfoundland A1B 3V6 or https://janewayfoundation.nf.ca/
