Mom was born in Bishop’s Falls. As a teenager she met our Dad, Clayton who became the love of her life. They married on September 5, 1946 and spent several years in Botwood where Dad was employed with the Weather Office (now Environment Canada). In 1951 they moved wth their two young boys to Gander when Dad was transferred. This is where their three daughters were added to their family and where they spent the rest of their days.

Mom had the privilege of being a stay-at-home-mom all her life. She loved to cook and bake. She sewed many outfits for herself and her girls. During her lifetime she made many quilts and crocheted and knitted and did quilling and tried many more crafts. On many occasions the creative juices would flow and she has left us with numerous poems. Many of these traits were passed on to her family. Mom was very active in her local church and volunteered in many areas. The very first meeting of the Women’ Missionary Council for the local Pentecostal Church was held in her home.

When Mom was sixty-five years old she lost the love of her life. It was only then that we realized how truly strong Mom was. After Dad’s death Mom spent many years alone in her home. One of the most difficult things Mom ever had to do was leave her home and move into a Personal Care Home where she spent the past twelve years.

On Monday, June 21, 2022 Mom was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. At almost ninety-six years old Mom was just too weak to fight and on June 25, 2022 at approximately
6:15
our Precious Mom went home to be with Jesus and to be reunited wth the love of her life.

Marion will be sadly missed by all who knew her. A quote from Dr Seuss says “DON’T CRY BECAUSE IT’S OVER. SMILE BECAUSE IT HAPPENED.” We will continue to smile Mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Missions at Evangel Church. Mom always had a heart for missions. We will be supporting the Benson House of Compassion in Senegal, Africa. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and at the church. You may also etransfer to give@evangelgander.ca and specify Benson house in honor of Marion Jeans.
