Obituary for Keith Bussey

It is with deep sorrow but also with a great sense of relief that we watched our brother
Donald Keith Bussey pass from his pain and suffering on July 5, 2022 at James Paton
Memorial Hospital. We, his family would like to thank a number of kind and caring people
who helped him through the last several months of his life’s journey. His family doctor, Dr.
Christopher Dicks, the home care workers, the staff at Golden Years Estates, the
emergency room staff at the hospital and the nurses, doctors and staff who saw him
through his last weeks.

Keith leaves to mourn his brother Bruce (Sherry) of Pynn’s Brook, his sister Jane (Doug)
Foley of Comfort Cove, his brother Glenn (Gail)of Gander, his brother-in-law Ken
Raymond (Tracey) of Appleton, and his sister Lynn of Gander. As well as a large extended
family and circle of friends.

He was predeceased by his parents Norman and Sylvia and by his sister Ann Raymond.
At his request he was cremated and the family will have an intimate celebration of his life
at Stacy’s Funeral Home on Thursday morning. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 4:00 at the
home that same day.

Keith was a unique individual as shown in this snapshot of his life seen through the eyes of
his niece Traci.

“Uncle Keith was a kind hearted, gentle soul of a man.

He had a brilliant mind and yet lived a simple life.

His creativity was remarkable and unique, and few people understood the intricacies of
music the way Keith did.

Someone said to him not long ago when referring to a painting he did many years ago,
“Keith you could have been an artist, and definitely a musician”. His response was,”Yes…
but there would have been some really different stuff out there”. He had different tastes for
sure. And, he was a musician and an artist, in his own right.

Uncle Keith loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with them all, especially his
brothers and sisters and their families.whether it was “gatherings” in Glenn and Gail’s
shed on a weekend when Bruce and Sherry were home…

A day on the water cod fishing with Mom and Dad.
A trip down the Gander River with Ken (and Ann when she was still with us).
Or his phone calls with Aunt Lynn to tell her ALLLL about the fish he caught on the water
with Doug and Jane, the one that got away when he was down the river with Ann and Ken,
the size of the tomatoes and peppers he was growing at the time, and of course, Angelina
Jordan’s latest masterpiece on YouTube.

He enjoyed all of these family encounters each and every time.

Uncle Keith was so proud of all his nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews too.
Although he didn’t have any “critters” of his own he had a genuine interest and tried to
keep up as best he could with what was going on with us all.

Keith lived his life according to Keith. How fortunate to live that way. It wasn’t a perfect
life, but we all know that a perfect life doesn’t exist. In his life he had great neighbours who
truly cared about him, and over the years he’s had a lot of really great friends. It was a
comfort for his brothers and sisters that those good buddies had his back. You know who
you are.

We all know that for Uncle Keith music was the love of his life. And in the last few months,
it’s become even more obvious. The emotion that came over him when he could listen to or
watch his favourites was a beautiful and bittersweet thing to witness.

So, if there is a heaven, or an afterlife, or a better place, however you choose to say it ( and I
believe there is by the way), by now Uncle Keith, you and Nan and Grandad and Aunt Ann
have found each other,( and God knows who else).

And the Angels’ Music just got a whole lot sweeter .

Until we meet again.”

Keith loved children and was very emotional when he saw or heard about a child who was
injured or infirm. He requested that any part of his body that was useful to anyone should
be used especially if it would benefit a child. If you wish to support his view you may do so
