Obituary for Rexford Charles "Rex" Kean

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rexford Charles Kean August 15, 1966-August 10th, 2022. Beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law and uncle and loyal friend to many. Rex passed peacefully away surrounded by loved ones at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Center.

Rex is predeceased by his parents Charles and Greta Kean (Gibbons) of Traytown, NL and beloved nephew Gavin Kean (Bob and Paula). Blessed with many fond and happy memories are: his wife Nadine and daughter Adison; his sister Rosalind, brothers Bob (Paula), Roger (Sandra); his mother and father in law Roy and Edna Dove, sister in law Diane (Bryan); brother in law Shawn (Sharon); nieces: Stephanie and great niece Lux, Alisha, Angela and Alyssa; nephews: Justin and Julian, and Bradly; and a large circle of much loved cousins, friends and family.

Rex was a person who tried to live his life with much enthusiasm and love for all those around him including family and cherished colleagues and friends. He exuded a zeal for life that was contagious and as an artist, he certainly saw the world through a different lens. A lens where there was beauty in the mundane and a quality of uniqueness to be found. His life was spent sharing and inspiring his students and others to see the world in a special way. For those who knew Rex, he found something to be grateful for everyday and he could be found mostly in the backyard or his green house because he loved to watch things grow or being built. He loved to take a drive and watch all the construction as it evolved and of course have a yarn!

Rex’s family would like to extend a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the many healthcare professionals who provided amazing care. This includes the care teams at the Health Sciences Center, H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Center, and all the health care professionals at James Paton Memorial Hospital, including the Gander Cancer Team and palliative care team. A special thank you goes to Dr. Dawn Armstrong and Dr. Nancy Culleton for their outstanding care.

Family will be receiving friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home, Gander on Friday August 12th, 2022 between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Saturday August 13th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Fraser Road United Church officiated by Bonnie Adams with interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
