Roderick Roland Pritchett
July 22nd, 1956 – October 15th, 2022
It is with the deepest sadness that the family of Roderick (Rod) Roland Pritchett announce his passing on October 15th, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with illness.
Rod is predeceased by his father Roland, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Preston and Leonie Genge.
Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories: his wife of 43 years, Patricia; son Andrew (Erica); mother Jean; brothers Dwight (Sharon), and Craig (Sheila); sisters Pam (Dave), and Sherri; sister-in law Debra (Glen); brother-in-law Timothy (Trudy); and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.
It is difficult to sum Rod up in a paragraph as he was so many things to so many people. He was a father, son, brother, uncle, friend, mentor, the list goes on. He knew people from every walk of life, near and far - and he truly knew people, he always knew that there was so much more to them than just what was on the surface. Rod was a sheet metal worker by trade, but his passion lay with his love of aviation, and so he combined the two to become a well-respected and knowledgeable builder of amateur built float planes. He was also well-known as a talented musician who could always be counted on to entertain friends and family with his guitar, a song, and a wry smile. Rod had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and could speak on any subject from politics to prospecting, but never in a way that made others feel any less intelligent than him. The definition of a renaissance man is one who can do all things if he is willing. Roderick Roland Pritchett was a true renaissance man, and the world will burn a little less brightly without him.
Cremation has taken place and funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Stacey’s Funeral Home. The family will be receiving visitors on Thursday, October 20th, from 1-4pm and 7-9pm, and on Friday, October 21st from 11:30am-1:30pm. A small private family service will be held on Friday afternoon.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at the James Paton Memorial Regional Hospital in Gander for their care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.
