Obituary for Larry Maxwell Menchion

Larry Menchion
July 22, 1956- November 21, 2022

It is with profound sadness that we announced the passing of Larry Maxwell Menchion, who at 66 years of age, died peacefully at home on November 21, 2022.

Larry was predeceased by his mother, Martha, and wife Patsy (Wicks) Menchion. Left with many wonderful memories, is his loving partner of 20+ years Jean Sheppard Allan, son Christopher Menchion and Jean’s son, Andrew Allan who affectionally called Larry his “second-hand Dad”, best friend and father Don Menchion of Gander; Brothers; Rhodie (Marion) Menchion of Goose Bay, Dave (Madonna) Menchion of Gander; Sisters Judy (Ian) of California and Gertie (Gerard) Cahill of Gander; his beloved Grandchildren James, Lucas and Cameron Menchion; the Wicks family; the Sheppard family; a large circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; and a vast community of friends.

Although not formally trained, Larry had the mind of an engineer, who could put his hand to anything. He was known as a hard worker and a “jack of many trades” as he loved to build things and solve complexed problems. When not swinging a hammer or fixing things, you could find Larry cooking Sunday dinner for his family or battering with friends over morning coffee. Larry enjoyed entertaining by telling tall tales and using humor to make people smile. He loved playing his guitar, and having a sing-along around the kitchen table, or performing with fellow musicians to raise money for charity. Larry was a man of many talents, but by far, he will always be fondly remembered as a fierce loyal friend, a devoted loving partner to Jean, and a caring supportive Dad and Pop to his boys.
Larry’s family would like to thank the many people who have been by his side as he bravely faced his illness; especially the staff(s) at cancer clinic at the James Paton Memorial Hospital, and Stacey’s Funeral Home for their compassionate care and support.

Larry’s family will be accepting friends at Stacey’s Funeral Home, located on 60 Roe Ave, Gander, NL on Thursday, November 24, 2022, from 7-9pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations on Larry’s memory to the Dr.H. Bliss Cancer Centre are graciously accepted.
