Obituary for Electa Horlick (MacDonald)

Electa MacDonald Horlick
April 15th, 1960 - April 27th, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Electa Horlick. She passed away peacefully at her home in Gander on April 27th, 2023 after a 15 month battle with cancer.

Born and raised in Big Beach, on Cape Breton Island, she moved to Wabush in 85, where she met her future husband, Glenn. They moved to Gander together in 1986, were married in 1987, and called Gander home for over 30 years.

Electa was well known for her sense of humor and her ambitious, outgoing personality. She enjoyed the outdoors, loved her cats and loved being Grammy to her three precious grandkids. She also liked to show off her competitive side, stemming from her days playing and coaching softball, whenever someone was up for a good game of darts, pool, crib, backgammon or rummoli. While she was an artist, an entrepreneur, a gardener, and a true jack of all trades, she found her calling and passion in the kitchen. Her love of cooking and eagerness to experiment kept her in her happy place and kept everyone's bellies full.

Electa is predeceased by her parents Angus and Betty MacDonald, her husband Glenn, and her very special uncle, Alexander MacDonald.

Leaving to cherish her memory, her daughters, Kierra (Jordan) of Gander, and Hayley (Kyle) of St Paul, Alberta, her three grandchildren, MacKenzie, Cooper and Kamryn, her siblings, Kevin (Robin), Juanita, and Leon (Sherri), Nephew and Godson Kalin, more nieces and nephews and a large circle of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Gander SPCA.

A celebration of life will be held at the family residence on Friday May 5, 2023 from 10AM - 8PM.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Stacey's Funeral Home Gander/Carmanville and to leave a message of condolence please visit our website at www.staceysfuneralhome.ca.
