April 27, 1953 - May 8, 2023
It is with deep sorrow and much sadness that the family of Barbara Ann Walbourne (nee Holloway) announce her peaceful passing on May 8, 2023 at the age of 70 years at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Barb grew up in King’s Cove NL, and eventually moved to Gander where she met her best friend and future husband Michael Walbourne. They were married in 1973 and enjoyed a lifetime of memories along with their loving daughter Michelle.
Barb worked extensively in the service industry and eventually became an entrepreneur owning and operating several successful enterprises. She enjoyed life and took on any adventure or opportunity with enthusiasm. She took everyone into her home and heart and ensured they were welcomed and always well fed, as cooking was one of her life's passions.
Barb will be missed and lovingly remembered by her husband Michael, daughter Michelle Coates (Lloyd) step grandchildren Heather Jean (Justin) and Hilary (Craig). Step great grandchildren Colby and Natalie. Her brothers Sidney (Monica), William , and Michael. And a large circle of family and friends.
Barb is predeceased by her parents Alphonsus and Theresa and her sister Mary and brother in law Raymond.
In keeping with Barb’s wishes a cremation has taken place. Visitation Thursday August 10th 2-4 pm with a celebration of life service will be held Friday August 11th at 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church Gander. Interment to follow at All Saints Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
