Leaving to Mourn;
Husband of 57 years, Wendell, daughters Donna (Scott), Brenda (Dean), Tracy
(Craig), grandchildren Amelia, Hilary, Jacob, Isaiah, and Savanah. Step

granddaughter Harper. Brothers Lawrence (Roxine), Wayne (Marion) and Cecil.

number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Geraldine – known as Gerri by many – was a hairstylist by trade. She also
worked as an apprentice instructor. She was heavily involved with church
activities. She was a practicing Lay Minister, president of the ACW, and a
member of the church choir. She also was a member of the Women’s Institute for
numerous years.

Her passions included sewing, and quilt making, singing, dancing, berry
picking, moose hunting, rabbit snaring and fishing. She loved summers, where
she spent many hours in a speedboat. She loved a good boil up off on the rocks of
Little Fogo Islands. She dreamed of picking berries. She loved cooking and
baking for the many friends and family that graced her home. She was a master
host, who made the best cold plate, bread, jams, and desserts around. Everyone
who knew her looked forward to getting together for one of her meals and she
loved having company. She absolutely loved everything about Christmas. Her
decorating skills were something to envy. She spent hours wrapping, picking out
the perfect gifts and baking. Her joy was contagious, and she made the holidays
perfect, as she would sing and play many Christmas carols.

Anyone who knew her, would say she was comical and had a great sense of
humor. She could make you laugh on your darkest day. She was vibrant and full
of life and when she had the opportunity to act in a skit she would have the
audience in peals of laughter. When Geraldine was 60 years old she took up running and ran in several
half marathons as well as the Telly Ten. Her back issues caused her to stop but
she always had a love of running. She and Wendell would have daily walks and
during the summer months, she made many trips to the Auk, on the Etheridge
Point trail.

Above all, her greatest joy, next to dancing with her husband, was
spending time with her grandchildren. She looked forward to their visits and
would go see them as often as she could. She was proud beyond measure of her
daughters and grandchildren. She dearly loved her husband, her best friend,
Their lifetime of love was admired by all who knew them. Their love story will live
on.

We want to thank all who visited mom while she was in the hospital, as
well as when she was at Tracy’s. Thank you to all who messaged and sent well
wishes, and the many phone calls. However, she didn’t appreciate it when you
called during Jeopardy! LOL. Your love and concern will not be forgotten.
We would like to send out a big thank you to all the staff at James Paton
Memorial Hospital. The nurses and respiratory therapist were compassionate
and professional. We would like to give a special thank you to her doctors. Dr.
Kong was extremely compassionate and empathetic. She became a friend to her.
She did all she could to help mom and try to improve her condition. Also – her
oncologist – Dr. Berstrum was very dedicated and concerned with her recovery.
Mom was treated with the utmost respect and compassion by all, and we will be
forever grateful.
