Clayton “Clay” Lush

April 1, 1941 – September 4, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Clay Lush on September 4, 2025, at the age of 84.

Born on April 1, 1941, in Middle Brook, Newfoundland, Clay was one of nine children, growing up surrounded by the love and laughter of his seven brothers and one sister. His Newfoundland roots shaped his strong work ethic, warm heart, and quick wit.

Clay moved to Ontario with his family, where he built a successful career and provided a loving home for those he cherished most. Upon retiring, he discovered a true passion for carpentry and renovating, spending countless hours creating, building, and improving spaces for family and friends.

Clay will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Joyce, and their three children: Rene (Fritchie Nave), Kimberley (James), and Dwane (Laurie). He was a proud and beloved Poppy to his eight grandchildren: Kezia (Christopher), Brandon, Lauren (Simon), Jacob, Emily, Sebastian, Grace, and Jaxson, and a great-grandfather to Logan and Caleb “Billy.”

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and care workers at Lakeside Homes in Gander for their kindness, compassion, and dedication in caring for Clay. We also wish to thank his brother Charlie for his daily visits and support during Clay’s time in long-term care.

A celebration of Clay’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honour his memory.
