Linda White (Mitchell) Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected but peaceful passing of Linda Irene White (née Mitchell), treasured wife, mother, Nan, sister, and friend, on Thursday January 29th , 2026.

Linda is predeceased by her husband, William (Bill) White; her parents, Herbert and Daisy Mitchell; her son, Stephen White; her brothers-in-law, Jim, Frank, Jerry, Pat White, and Herb Saunders; and her sister-in-laws, Annette Brown and Florence White

Left to mourn her passing are her daughter: Shelley(Greg) and Daughter-in-Law: Jennifer(Rory). She will be remembered always by her beloved grandchildren: Jordan(Marc), Alexander, and Keegan. Linda is survived by her siblings: sister Barbara (Earl) Bourque, brother Robert Mitchell, sister Marilyn Mitchell, and sister Lorna(Keith) Berkshire. She is also survived by her siblings-in-law: Betty Saunders, Loretta (Frances) Beaton, Tom (Joanne) White, Jack (Anne) White, and Reg White , Hilda White, Florrie White and Bruce Brown. Also a large number and nieces and nephews.

Linda graduated high school in Bishops Falls at the young age of 15; top of her class and valedictorian. She became a valued employee wherever she went. After graduating, she worked at the Royal Stores in Grand Falls. Linda was always so proud to tell that at 17 years old, she bought a “brand new Volkswagen-right off the assembly line”. Following that she was employed by Abitibi Price in the office. She traveled internationally with work friends in the 60s-70s. She met Bill in 1970 and later married and settled in Norris Arm. Norris Arm became her home and she immersed herself in the little community she so dearly loved. You could always depend on her to support everything and everyone, regardless of the cause. Linda had a wide range of talents and was best known for her quilting works, baking, and ability to bring fun and laughter wherever she went. Her tea buns are lore. She loved live music, a good crossword, a boisterous game of 120’s, a strong black coffee, and the company of friends and family.

Her circle was extensive and the friendships ran deep as evidenced by the constant stream of visitors during the 8 months she was in hospital. Thank you to each and everyone of you who brightened her hospital days with a visit.
