Gwendolyn Levita Blackwood born June 19, 1928. Daughter of Norah May and Windsor Wheaton. Gwen passed away April 9, 2026 at the Lakeside Homes, Gander surrounded by her loving family.
In 1950, Gwen married George Blackwood and together they raised five children Edwina, Evelyn, Obadiah, Sheila and Gordon (George Jr.). Gwen's life was a song of devotion, she was a faithful member of the Salvation Army and Home League, Carmanville Corp.
Whether Gwen was meticulously piecing together a quilt or turning the heel of a sock, her attention to detail was matched only by the love of family, and her passion lived in every stitch she made for those she held dear.
Gwen will be sadly missed by her devoted children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers Ralph and Bayden along with her many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to those who helped us during this difficult time as well as thank the staff at Lakeside Homes for their compassion and care of Gwen.
Family will be receiving friends at the Salvation Army Church, Carmanville on Saturday, April 11, 2026 between the hours of 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m. from where the funeral service will take place on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at the Salvation Armt Cemetery, Carmanville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gwendolyn’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army Cemetery.
