It is with heavy hearts, we the family announce that Elaine Downer (Bauld), aged 76, of Main Point, Newfoundland and Labrador, passed away peacefully on May 15th 2026 at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre.

Born on December, 16th 1949 in Gander Bay, Elaine was the beloved daughter of Pearl and Victor Bauld. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother. Throughout her life, she was known for loving pride for family, caring, and compassion, hard work, great cook, and great sense of humor.

She will be lovingly remembered by: her husband Alvin Downer; children: Boyce Bauld (Perla), Sharon Hennebury (Jason), Jamie Downer (Cherylynn), and Craig Downer; grandchildren: Connor, Austin, Carleigh, Cameron, Cameille Brookylnn; brothers: Toby Bauld (Fern), Elam Bauld (Carol); sister Phyllis Combden (Frank); sister-in-law: Wanda Bauld & Bestest Buddy Lorraine Hodder (Lloyd).

She was predeceased by her mother & father: Pearl & Victor Bauld; brother, Terry Bauld and sister Robina Brinson.

A private visitation for family and friends will take place at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Wing’s Point on Sunday May 17, 2026 from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 pm. From where the funeral service will take place on Monday May 18, 2026 at 2:00pm, officiated by Reverend Steward Mayo with interment to follow at St. David's Anglican Cemetery Davidsville.

As expressions of sympathy flowers are accepted or donations may be made to St. David's Anglican Cemetery Fund in her honor.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to hospital staff at James Paton Memorial Hospital for their care and support in her final days.

“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around you and whispered "Come Home to Me" with tearful eyes we watched and saw you pass away, we love you dearly but could not make you stay, A golden heart has stopped beating, hardworking hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us" he only takes the best. Love you Mom you are the best.
