Robert James Russell

Passed away peacefully on May 24th 2026 in Bloomfield, Bonavista Bay, NL at the age of 92 years and 6 months.

Predeceased by his wife Delilah in 2012, his great-grandson Jordon Neave, his mother and father Jack and Mary Jane Russell, and all of his 7 siblings and their spouses. Also, his mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Louisa West and their children and spouses.

Leaving to mourn his special friend of 9-10 years, Dorothy Quinton (Dot), his 13 children: Barry West (Rosie), Jane Hogan (Joe), Roxina Manuel (Push), Jim Russell (June), Penny Neave (Greg), Chris Russell (Faith), Trudy Taylor (Darryl), Susan Sexton (Kevin), Sandra Mercer (Peter), Robert Russell (Wanda), Kirk Russell (Rayelynn), Craig Russell (Brenda), Tracy Russell (fiancé Jim). His 39 grandchildren, his 65 great-grandchildren, and his 4 great-great-grandchildren. Also, sister-in-law Donna West and brother-in-law Bill Prince and a large number of family and friends.

Would like to thank his doctors for all their care; Dr. Janet Chaytor and Dr. Jason Woodfine, Shelley at Public Health, Kim and Paula, his Homecare workers. You gave our Dad great care.

Our Dad worked very hard all his life from laying down flooring, carpentry, and his own personal farming. He was well known all over the island and in Kitchener/Waterloo, On., when work slowed down. He also loved to fish. He would spend many hours in the rivers looking for salmon. He also enjoyed the cabins. He also had a love for playing cards. He loved going to different places around the bay. He also loved telling stories. He had many stories to tell, from being a young boy to just weeks before he passed. He had a great life doing what he loved. He will be especially missed by Susan, who looked after him for 10 years, making sure he had whatever he needed and then some, and Sandra, who cared for him for the past year and a half. 

R.I.P. Dad. You will be forever missed and loved.
