David Lee Brown

It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of David Lee Brown (May 6th 1981), a devoted husband, loving father, cherished son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. On Wednesday, June 10, David passed away peacefully at the Lionel Kelland Hospice in Grand Falls-Windsor following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by the love of his family until his final breath, David faced his journey with remarkable strength, dignity, and determination.

David was predeceased by his mother, Annette Brown; his father-in-law, Wayne Barton; his grandparents, Bertrum and Susanna White, and Herbert and Edna Brown; his uncles, Jim, Bill, Frank, Jerry, and Patrick White, and Herbert Saunders; his aunts, Florence and Linda White; and his cousins, Stephen and Darryl White.

Leaving to mourn with countless treasured memories is his beloved wife, Melissa, who was his partner, confidante, and unwavering source of strength throughout their life together and especially during the challenges of the past two years. Together they built a beautiful life and raised , Conor and Caden, who were the pride and joy of David’s life. He will also be deeply missed by their faithful dog, Nixon, who never strayed far from his side.

David leaves behind his loving father, Bruce Brown; his brothers, Neil (Amy), Kenny (Angie), and Christopher (Karla) Brown; his nieces, Julia, Abbigail, Victoria, and Alex; and his nephews, Aaron and Luke. He is also lovingly remembered by his aunts and uncles: Jack (Anne) White, Tom (Joanne) White, Reg White, Bep Saunders, Loretta (Frances) Beaton, Hilda White, Florrie White, Ron (Georgina) Brown, Derek Brown, and Geraldine Peckford, along with many extended family members and dear friends.

David shared a special bond with his cousins, who were raised more like siblings than family. Their memories, laughter, and friendship were among his greatest treasures, and he will be forever missed.

David was widely respected for his exceptional work ethic and dedication as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. Aviation was more than a career—it was a passion. It was also what brought him and Melissa together through their shared love of the industry. Throughout his career, David worked in many facets of aviation, but he held a special appreciation for his years with EVAS and Government Air Services. The friendships he built along the way and the colleagues who became lifelong friends brought him tremendous pride and happiness.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Lionel Kelland Hospice, Gander Cancer Clinic and Palliative care team for the exceptional compassion, care, and comfort they provided to David and his loved ones during his journey. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

Visitation will take place at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Norris Arm, Newfoundland and Labrador, on Friday, June 12, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service celebrating David’s life will be held at the church on Saturday, June 13, at 2:00 p.m.
