Harvey John Diamond Obituary

Harvey John Diamond age 89 years. Passed peacefully away at his home on June 10, 2026 just a few weeks shy of his 90th birthday in the company of his wife, Sophie and step daughter, Jennifer.

Predeceased by his first wife, Myrtle (Bown); brothers: Benaih and Raymond and daddy’s furry little girl, Kayleigh.

Leaving to mourn his wife, Sophie; son, Craig and step daughter, Jennifer; special sister-in-law, Betty; brothers in law: Winston (Netta) ,Ralph (Georgina) and a large circle of family and friends.

Harvey was born on Change Islands on June 27, 1936 to Bessie and Stanley Diamond. Harvey lost his father at the age of 2, leaving his mother to care for 3 sons alone. Harvey worked in the lumber woods in the winter and fished with his brother, Raymond during the summer. He married Myrtle on November 11, 1964 and their son, Craig was born on October 27, 1968. He served on the library board and fishery improvement committee. He retired from the fishery in the late 90s. Following the passing of his wife Myrtle in 2002, he met and married Sophie Peckford on June 24, 2006. Harvey then moved to St. John’s and spent his remaining years with Sophie who took such good care of him and his step daughter, Jennifer. He spent many hours with Kayleigh, his puppy (Daddy’s Girl) and was a friend to a who knew and met him. Harvey was always ready with a joke, a story and a laugh.

The family would like to say thank you to Dr. Michelle Wagoner for her care and many home visits, Constable Paul Growns for his care and compassion and to Major Barry Anstey and Donald Powell for assisting with funeral arrangements.

Cremation has taken place. Family will be accepting friends at the Salvation Army Church on Monday, June 15th from 10 A.M - 12 P.M. Funeral service will follow. Innterment Salvation Army Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Church, Change Islands.
