It is with broken hearts and profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ronald (Ronnie) Carl Allan Stroud on July 5, 2026. He was a dedicated partner, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all who knew him.

Left with treasured memories are his spouse Erica, precious son Luke, parents Ron and Maxine Stroud, brother Lorne (Heather), parents-in-law Fred and Roberta Bradley, sister-in-law Aleesha (Tim), nephews Braden and Rhys, aunts, uncles, cousins, and so many friends from all walks of life near and far.

Ronnie is predeceased by his grandparents Howard and Jean Stroud, Clayton and Daphne Squire.

Ronnie grew up in Salvage and enjoyed a wholesome and happy life around the water embracing all it had to offer. After graduating from high school he worked on rebuilding the local fish plant and worked in the offshore fishery. He made many lasting friendships, forever cherishing the lifelong connections. 

Upon moving to Gander Ronnie began work with the Town of Gander in 2010 and held several positions before furthering his education in Heavy Equipment Operation. He continued to explore different departments, and in 2023 became Foreperson of Public Works. He was dedicated to his role and formed many unforgettable friendships.

Ronnie never lost his love for Salvage and the Eastport Peninsula and was true to his roots. While his life encompassed fishing, hunting, growing organic vegetables, going to the cabins, enjoying the outdoors and helping others with their projects, his main focus was his son. Ronnie devoted himself to being the best father he could be. 

He found continued joy in the sport of hockey when Luke joined his very first team. Watching Luke grow each game gave him immense pride. He made time for everyday moments and simply having Luke at his side to share many life experiences. Ronnie was actively involved in all of Luke’s extracurricular activities, such as scouting, and loved every moment. 

His gifts of kindness, generosity and unwavering desire to help others and experience new adventures will continue on through the lives of those who were recipients, and more importantly, to Luke who was the receiver of them all.

The family would like to thank the First Responders, the crew of Bud’s Legacy and everyone who was on the wharf and assisted with their efforts. Also the exceptional care from the medical team at James Paton Memorial Regional Hospital. 

A heartfelt thank you to  friends and family for their love and caring support during this very difficult time. 

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Salvage Longhouse on August 9th, 2026 from 2-6pm. 

A Trust Fund for Luke to assist with ongoing sports and extracurricular activities is established and donations can be gratefully accepted at Lukestroudtrust@hotmail.com
