Barbara DJ Brinson Obituary

Barbara Brinson

Mar 22, 1949 - Jul 28, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Brinson (Pike) on July 28, 2026 at the Gander Long Term Care. Barbara was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother and a treasured sister and friend.

After graduating high school at her hometown of Charleston, Barbara went to St. John’s and completed summer school, then accepted a teaching position at Main Point. There she met her husband Guy and they married on Dec 20, 1967.

Together they raised 2 children while she started a new career as postmaster with Canada Post for many years. As a family they enjoyed camping and their cabin at fourth pond. Barbara never stayed idle for very long and was always busy either cooking, baking, cleaning, knitting or quilting. She also enjoyed a good book with a cup of coffee. She enjoyed working at the Lobstick Lodge in Labrador for a few years and her final job in Fort McMurray. In the later years dementia started to take her away but she will never be forgotten and forever loved by everyone who knew her.

Barbara was a great wife, the best mother and she adored her grandchildren. She leaves to mourn her husband Guy, son Dwayne (Candy), daughter Lori (Blair), grandson Jamie, granddaughters: Emma and Abigail, and step granddaughters: Noelle and Katlin Pardy. Brothers: Ken (Mag), Lloyd (Barb), and Alfred and sisters: Rhyna, Daisy (Ron), Lydia, and Cavell.

Pre deceased by her parents Chelsey and Daisy Pike, parent in-laws James and Priscilla Brinson.

Many thanks to the staff at Lakeside Homes and Gander Long Term Care for the great love and care she received and the support for her family.
