Wince was born and raised in Grand Falls-Windsor. He was very content and loved Newfoundland. Family was everything to him. Wince had a great love for the outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting ,gardening, berry-picking, walking and being in nature. He had an incredible respect for the land and wildlife around him. He could recognize various types of animal tracks or markings, and somehow always could figure out exactly where they lived. When you walked with Wince the woods and bogs came alive with stories, and adventure always seemed to lurk just over the next hill.
One of his favourite places to walk in recent years was the Corduroy Trail in GFW, but what made those walks truly special was sharing them with family and friends. Those walks became more than just time outdoors: they became treasured family memories for all who joined him, filled with conversations, laughter, stories, and the simple joys of being together. Those who walked with him will forever remember seeing the world through his eyes. He had a lifetime of stories to share, gathered from his years on the road, his adventures outdoors, his work, and most importantly, his family.
Early in his working life, he worked in construction where he developed the skills and determination that would remain with him throughout his life. For the majority of his career he worked as a CN road cruiser bus driver, travelling the east and west coasts of Newfoundland until he retired. Along the way he met countless interesting people, listened to their stories, and recounted them many times, often with additional flair. Many of his work colleagues became lifelong friends, and those friendships were a special part of his life.
He was always ready to help his children, grandchildren, and others with whatever they were working on. He was a man of all seasons, whether it was building, fixing, repairing, figuring something out, or simply lending a hand, he was always there and chances are he knew how to do it too. He gave his time freely and never seemed to think twice about helping anyone.
Rest peacefully.
We will keep walking those trails, telling your stories, and carrying your love with us wherever we go. Forever loved, forever missed, forever in our hearts. We will always remember your favorite quote; " Everyday is a good day."
