Dennis Lane Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Dennis (Den) Lane share the news of his passing. Den passed peacefully away with his family by his side on August 17, 2026, at the age of 79.

Born and raised in Gambo, Newfoundland, Den had a lifelong love for his hometown and the outdoors. He worked for many years as an electrician at the Gander Canadian Forces Base.

Den loved hunting, fishing, hiking, playing cards, and spending time at the cabin he built at Gambo Pond. He took great pleasure in travelling around Newfoundland with his family, sharing the places he loved and creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Den shared a special lifelong bond with his cousin and close friend, Roland (Ro) Lane. The 2 spent countless days hunting and enjoying the outdoors together, building a lifetime of stories and memories along the way.

Den could turn his hand to just about anything and took great pride in passing that knowledge on to his sons. He taught them much of what he knew about carpentry, electrical work, and mechanics. He had a great sense of humour and brought plenty of laughter to those around him.

Above all, Den loved his family. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Audrey Lane (Pitcher); his sons, Dennis (Terri-Lynn) and Ryan (Kim); his grandchildren, Rachel, Nathan, and Jaxson; his sisters, Rosemary (Dr. Edgar Hunt), Melita Politeski, and Valda Lane; his brothers, Mervin (Elizabeth) and Gerald (Ivy); his in-laws, Barry (Shelia) Pitcher, Lorraine (Ivan) Williams, Barbara (Martin) Wall, Craig (Judy) Pitcher, Mavis (Dave) Smith, Rick (Annie) Pitcher, Kelvin (Carol) Pitcher, Robert (Colleen) Pitcher, and Tammy (Steve) Boyer; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Den was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Maisie (Brown) Lane; his infant brother; his mother-in-law, Pearl Pitcher; his father-in-law, Robert Pitcher; and his brother-in-law, David Pitcher.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the General Surgery floor at James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre for the kindness, compassion, and care shown to Den and his family.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation will take place, and no formal service will be held.

Den will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for the knowledge he passed on, the laughter he shared, and the many wonderful memories he left behind.
