Norma did Gr. 11 living with my mom and dad, Rev. Clarence and Mrs. Sadie Powell Stanford, in Bishop's Fall's. I was probably in Gr. 3 or 4 at that time. After we, as a family, moved on to dad's calling in other Canadian provinces, Norma always sent us a little parcel in the mail for Christmas and our birthdays. As a result, we looked forward to the fact that she always was someone that we knew was going to send us something in the mail and as a child you remember those special times and special gifts sent in the mail just for us... just like our Grandma Sarah Powell always did... and we sure looked forward to those parcels, being away from any family members.. and we hopped around them very excitedly as children when they turned up at the post office. We 4 children we so excited!!! This meant so much more to us in those times when things were not as luxurious as they are today. I still have a porcelain Lady figurine with a little doggy... sitting in my china cabinet that Norma sent me when I was a little girl. My Grandma Powell always kept special items in her china cabinet that I LOVED to look at when we came home every summer and so I treasure all the special items in my cabinet including Norma's lady and doggy figurine! AND, I have a very "funny", "strange", "loving remembrance" habit of looking in all china cabinets when I go into homes... searching for special items like Norma's in a special spot like my china cbinet... special spot like my heart.. just a special remembrance of love that never goes away!!!! xoxo Norma.
