Harold,
It's time to reminenise. Remember the good old days in St. Anthony. The time we figured we had a novel way to thaw out frozen water pipes during the coldest winter ever. You know the truckload of car batteries went dead in seconds after we connected them to the pipe. No water, but it was a success in that they didn't explode! The Christmas party on the old American Base where we had dozens and dozens of people celebrating while we cooked T-Bones dressed in cooks outfits borrowed from a Coastal Boat. Then there was the ship in the harbour needing fresh water. We had access to that water truck, so to the rescue. That was a catastrophe since it was around -20C, the captain wouldn't get out of bed, and the first mate wouldn't do anything like heat the lines without orders. Glad that ended abruptly. That old water truck came in handy when the water shortage prompted the hospital to ask for a standby load of water.
The trips we made in the schooner were a lot of fun. Steaming out of Glovertown, and quickly back again when sonething didn't sound right. That old boat went on to some peculiar adventures.
Remember the old snowmobile we had at St. Anthony. Troublesome beast it was. The time it needed a bell housing and there was little or no hope of getting one until we found one St. Pauls river, under the bridge that Everett Osmond was attaching open wire to.
Those were really days when everything and anything was possible.
Now tht you are on the otherside, put in a good word for all the friends and foes we had.
Your friend,
Kevin
