It is with a heavy heart that the family of Effie Benning announce her passing on October 4, 2017 at the age of 85 after a brief battle with cancer. A woman of immense inner strength and a sassy sense of humor, she always spoke her mind. We will miss her dearly.
She was predeceased by husband Richard Benning, parents Shem and Olive (Gillingham) Hodder, and brothers Harold (Lucy) Hodder and Frank (Effie) Hodder. Left with loving memories are son Michael, Gander, daughter Helen (Dave) Charlton, Porters Lake, sister Annie Wheaton, Gander, brother Edmund (Grace) Hodder, Lewisporte, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In keeping with Effie's wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at Fraser Road United Church, Gander at 2 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2017, followed by a reception at the church hall.
