"To Len and Mabel,Russell and family: We were so very sad to hear of Kay's passing. In recent years we had kept in touch and looked forward to seeing her occasionally and hearing from her at Christmas. She was so pleased when we bought our place on Kean's Point. We will certainly miss her. Sending heartfelt condolences to all of you. Wade and Norma Kean. St. John's."

I have such clear memories of after school at Kay's, usually being loaded up with the best homemade bread in the world. I also remember those nights when Kay would come look after us when my parents had an event. I use the term "nights" loosely as I vividly remember the sun high in the sky during "bedtime." But I challenge anyone to try and stay awake under her famous quilts made from scrap fabric and pure love. I am so glad she reconnected during her visits to Nova Scotia and shared her unconditional love with our kids. She always came with hand knitted hats and mittens, but topped it off with a quilt for Tessa and Douglas (see photo). Sincere condolences to her family, but we hope you find comfort in knowing our world is a better place because of Kay.

So sorry to hear of Kay’s passing. One of the kindest hearts I have ever met. My brother and I have great childhood memories of spending time at Kay’s house after each school day. Many a nap was had wrapped up in one of her homemade quilts with a belly full of homemade bread and/or buns. Kay’s presence was always felt far and wide by both her family, who she was staunchly proud of, and those of us that were lucky to have felt her love.
