I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Steve and all the Harris Family on the passing of Brian. I remember Brian well as almost all of the rest of the Harris family - The hockey player, the swimmer/lifeguard, etc., etc.
I used to pass the Harris family house/home on the way to school two or three times a day for eleven years.
My father used to work in the mines with Ches, the patriarch of the family, and my dad would come home and say " Do you know how many children that man has?" Like twenty or something!!
The strange thing is ( myself included) about remembering people is that we tend to remember people older than ourselves, rather than those younger. I remember Brian and his pretty girlfriend Marilyn (Pearce King"s daughter??) and they were a good looking couple.
I left Buchans after high school and didn't return to this area until 1974. My brother Jim moved to St. John's in 1975 so sometime after that I ran into Brian in Buchans , he didn't know me or remember me.
I introduced myself and told him I was Jim's brother. He asked " so how's Jim doing?" and so any time I ran into Brian after that, he would say, " you're Jim Smith's brother". Hey, there was about a ten years age difference, when I was ten , Brian was twenty, so I forgave him for that.
Later over the years he got into farming and we had some mutual friends in the farming industry. Brian was a nice guy. Mostly always upbeat with a smile on his face. I liked him as so many others did also . Again I would like to extend to the Harris family my deepest condolences on your loss.
May he rest in peace.

Marilyn and all the Harris family,
I was shocked and very saddened to hear of the passing of Brian. He was a true Buchaneer. I have fond memories of him from my school days in Buchans and from seeing him often when I spent time there visiting my parents and sister. It was always great to chat to him about our younger days. Brian will be missed by all who knew him. My husband joins me in sending sympathy to all of you. May peace be yours in this hour of grief. God bless you.

Marilyn and Family,
We are so sorry to hear about Brian's passing. Bill has such fond memories of him and said they did a lot of things together over the years, including building two cabins on the Notch Mountains, and spending time on the farm harvesting vegetables. Bill and his brother Cyril said they knew they always had a place to stay when they went back to Buchans to visit. Brian loved when Bill came with salt fish., reciprocating with a bag full of fresh garden vegetables! Such wonderful memories! He will be greatly missed.
