Edna, Bill and Brian ....
Before you read this message Calvin will be in heaven... I met your husband / father nearly 40 years ago at my first music camp at Northern Arm. It was at that time I met each of you and was exposed to a very passionate and musical family. At first, Calvin's approach intimidated me a bit but I soon realized it was his passion and love for music - aggressively encouraging young people like me to be the very best we could be in our service to God.
I recognize I am merely one in perhaps thousands of young people that your husband / father has touched through the years in profound ways not only musically but spiritually as he frequently reminded the purpose for what we do - giving praise to God and encouraging others in their discovery and understanding of God.
The stories, the laughter, the music and faith are each gifts we were pleased to share. I strive to continue this legacy as I'm sure each of us who knew Calvin are doing in our own unique way. Truly one of my mentors in life.
I told Cal (years ago) that he should write a book ...it would be both entertaining and inspiring: an ordinary man doing extra-ordinary things. If it's not already written maybe someone will be inspired to write.
God bless you all
